Members of Donald Trump’s inner circle are urging him to concede following Joe Biden’s victory in the presidential election, according to CNN.
The president’s wife, Melania Trump, and Jared Kushner — his son-in-law and senior advisor — have reportedly advised him to accept his loss despite his decision to refute election results.
Trump has claimed the results are fraudulent since they started coming in on Election night, filing lawsuits against certain states that he claimed had “irregularities” in their vote tabulations. He is reportedly preparing to present the obituaries of dead people that were claimed to vote in the election.
“I will not rest until the American people have the honest vote count they deserve and that democracy demands,” the president said in a statement.
POTUS’ decision to prove that the election results are inaccurate have been backed by his supporters and older sons.
Eric Trump shared a video that claimed pro-Trump votes in Virginia were destroyed and later accused the Democrats of “spamming” the phone line intended to collect reports of voter fraud. “The @DNC is spamming our voter fraud hotline to bog down the thousands of complaints we are receiving!” he wrote. “Wonder what they have to hide.”
Donald Trump Jr. called out “2024 GOP hopefuls” for failing “to show that they’re willing & able to fight” for his father.
Biden was inching toward the presidency for days, but he officially became the nation’s president-elect on Saturday (Nov. 7) after winning the state of Pennsylvania. In his acceptance speech, he addressed Trump supporters who were upset about his win.
“I understand the disappointment tonight. I’ve lost a couple of times myself. But now, let’s give each other a chance,” he said. “This is the time to heal in America… I pledge to be a president who seeks not to divide, but unify, who doesn’t see red states and blue states, but only sees the United States.”
“I sought this office to rebuild the soul of America, to rebuild the backbone of this nation, the middle class and to make America respected around the world again,” Biden continued.
