The election workers in Pennsylvania are continuing to work tirelessly to count ballots for the presidential election. The Pittsburgh Steelers are doing their part to lend a helping hand help by sending them catered meals.

Multiple players from the team purchased dinner for the employees on Wednesday night (Nov. 4) from The Goose Express. They received chicken, pies, rigatoni, veggie, rolls and more.

“We’re just trying to look out for the people [who] are looking out for us,” Steelers’ Minkah Fitzpatrick said Thursday (Nov. 5). “They have a very hard task. They’re working crazy hours, like 9 a.m. to 2 a.m., which isn’t an easy task. We just wanted to look out for them. Gratitude.”

He continued, “Not too many people are looking out for them, so we just wanted to take care of them and make sure they were looked after and taken care of. Just looking out.”

The Steelers have been active with their efforts to encourage the public to be more engaged in the voting process. Members of the organization, including Coach Mike Tomlin, participated in a public service announcement video which focused on the mail-in voting process.

They also teamed up with Citrone 33 to donate 5,000 masks to Allegheny County so the election officials could have personal protective equipment at their local polling places.

“We’re professionally focused, but we have been talking continuously about being active participants in the political process and exercising our right to vote,” Tomlin said on Election Day. “It requires no special meeting or no point of emphasis today. We all know what today is.”

Election officials in Pennsylvania are still counting ballots. On Wednesday (Nov. 4), President Donald Trump and his campaign filed a lawsuit against the state to halt vote counting due to “lack of transparency.” However, a Philadelphia court denied Trump’s bid to pause the process.
