Last month, Roc Nation unveiled a compilation titled REPRISE, which contains music dedicated to social and political justice. One of the project’s standouts is Rapsody’s “12 Problems,” a fiery number that is produced by CuBeatz and Don Cannon and takes aim at American law enforcement:

“I think like the Cubans, think you’ll never get Assata back, wе got ya back T. Mallory, carry on like a Prada bag, my dogs wit like they quartеr lab, in the backseat of a patrol car, that’s luck they ain’t call the coroner, should be hall of fame, corridor/

The way we run it back, you’d think it’s 63, I’m thinkin’ 60 3’s, hunnid and eighty degrees, get ya s*** straight, Mr. Police, did the same thing to Cochise, did the same thing to Raheem, did the same thing in our reality, y’all bogus…/”

Directed by Patrick Lincoln and Torch House Media, the accompanying black-and-white visual begins with a beautiful ballet performance from a young girl, before switching to Rapsody performing at a gun range. Shots of Rapsody and others being accosted by armed police can also be seen, a powerful reminder of what our communities are facing in this country. The clip also sees additional contributions from Ambré, Niko Brim, and Reuben Vincent — the last two of whom trade bars during a dope in-vehicle performance near the end. The video closes out with a poignant quote from Yvette Glasco in regards to the importance of voting:

“My reason for voting is to dismantle systems that oppress the black mind, body, and soul.”

In addition to “12 Problems,” REPRISE also saw cuts from Ant Clemons, Ty Dolla $ign, Vic Mensa, Jorja Smith, AJ Tracey, Unknown T, Chronixx, and more. As with Rapsody’s single, proceeds from REPRISE will going to various charities, including The Gathering For Justice, the NACDL Foundation for Criminal Justice, and the Equal Justice Initiative.
