After releasing some recent loosies such as “Sorry” and “Paid Off,” Russ just dropped off another one titled “Freed Up,” and he confirmed via YouTube comment it’s his “favorite sh*t made in a long time.” On the song, Russ gets his confidently unbothered bars off:

“You not in the circle, you’re parked outside. I’m poolside sippin’ spritzers, posin’ for the pictures. Stay on point, but I don’t have to shoot ‘cause my crew is the Sixers. I can hear the whispers, but the money louder, though. I ain’t scared of sh*t, I don’t carе about a b**ch. I be ballin’ overseas likе Calderón. I keep a pound at home, I found my zone, I’m in it.”

Russ’ last project Shake The Snow Globe was released back in January and earned him a top five spot on the Billboard 200 with 63,000 album equivalent units sold, and he followed up with its deluxe version later on. Prior to that, he dropped Zoo, which was led by the well-received singles “The Flute Song” and “Missin You Crazy.” Last month, he gifted fans with a visually stunning music video for his new single “Take You Back” featuring Kehlani, which was directed by Edgar Esteves.

In an interview from earlier this year, Russ spoke about the importance of ownership in the music game:

“At the end of the day, when you don’t own your stuff, people can say no. It’s a business, they don’t have to give you back sh*t. It’s sad but my advice to him would be to not renegotiate the deal, don’t sign off for more albums. Whatever albums you have left, put them out ASAP and get out of the f**king deal, then go indie and flood with three or fours albums on a Tunecore-type service or any digital distributor. Build up that independent catalog.”
