Daniel Cameron has hired armed security following threats to him and his family.

According to documents from the attorney general’s office, he asked for increased protection after there were “several, serious, credible threats” to his “health, welfare and safety.” The Government Contract Review Committee authorized the request, allowing him to have security through the end of the year.

“Our office has received detailed threats against the Attorney General, his wife, and members of his family,” Cameron’s team told CNN. “The Attorney General’s protective detail determined that given the credibility of such threats, additional personnel and resources were needed to provide the appropriate level of security.”

Cameron has become the target of public scrutiny for his management of the Breonna Taylor case. After the 26-year-old EMT was fatally shot by officers who used a no-knock warrant to raid her home, he took months to meet the family and provide any updates on the grand jury’s decision. Upon his presentation of the results, he announced no officers were being charged for killing Taylor, later noting he didn’t even offer the jurors the option to indict any of the cops for her death.

A grand juror filed a lawsuit against Cameron, asking to speak publicly about the reports, and the attorney general was ordered to release them. He has since asked to keep the proceedings private.

Cameron has been called out by various people, most notably Megan Thee Stallion, and threatened by others. The Department of Criminal Investigations in Kentucky have deemed the threats against him credible.

One person has already been indicted for threatening Cameron.

Per Kentucky.com, Wesley Forrest Clay of Olathe, Kansas reportedly left a message with Cameron’s office that read, “You will die if you do not give Breonna Taylor justice. That is a threat. Try me.”

Clay has been charged with making a threat through interstate communications.
