Victoria Monét and Kehlani have linked up for the collab the people have been waiting for, the official remix for “Touch Me.” The remix came paired with a visualizer, which shows the two cruising together in the front seat while the song plays. On the song, Victoria sings about her side of the story:
“Went from hands on the wheel to hands on my thigh, to hands on my body in the back of the Porsche. I’m in love with your fingertips, I reminisce places you kiss. Girl, it’s been too long, and when you rock them short nails, that’s lowkey sentimental. Now keep ‘em cut though so there ain’t no incidentals.”
The original “Touch Me” is the finale track off of Victoria Monét’s August project JAGUAR. When she’s not shining in front of the mic, her pen is still busy working. Monét is responsible for some of the biggest hits due to her songwriting skills for chart-topping hits, most recently for Chloe X Halle and Selena Gomez. She was nominated for four awards at this year’s Grammy Awards for her work on Ariana Grande’s thank u, next.
Kehlani was playing through everyone’s speakers earlier this year in May when she shared her project It Was Good Until It Wasn’t, which saw features from Jhene Aiko, Masego, Lucky Daye, and James Blake. In an interview from earlier this year, Kehlani spoke about the pressures that come with being a dominant force in R&B:
“The first time I stepped in the studio to make a song was because I had a song to make, not because I felt like these people wanted a song from me, and they want this kind of song. I try to maintain that I’m an artist, and I make music because it’s what I love and how I express myself. That’s how I get through my feelings. So I don’t really apply that outer pressure on myself. I hope people enjoy something I worked so hard on, and so hard for.”
