It’s been about a year since it was announced that REASON was releasing a new album titled New Beginnings, which would act as the official follow-up to his official debut There You Have It. Since then, we’ve received a slew of dope singles, including “Pop S***” with ScHoolboy Q, “Trapped In” with Ab-Soul and Boogie, “Might Not Make It,” and “Same Ol S***.” Today, he adds to that with his latest cut “SAUCE,” which sees an assist from fellow California star Vince Staples. Produced by NIL$ and Bizness Boi, the hard-hitting cut contains some of the collaborators’ best bars to date:
“Way, way, way, way, ridin’ ‘round town on Sunset, Cali weed loud like Funk Flex, road trips, low drip, don’t rush s***, those b***h ass n***as know f*** s***, don’t know f*** s***, get chick-checked, treat a queen like a queen, don’t give a b***h s***/
New whip s*** crawl like insects, lotta h***, lotta h***, gang fishnet, lotta h***, lotta h***, more problems, came in, a n***a left, Obama…/”
There You Have It originally made landfall in 2017 before being re-released the following year as a Top Dawg Entertainment release. The project saw 12 tracks and features from Xian Bell, D Beezey, and Space 600. In addition to the aforementioned singles, REASON also contributed to Dreamville’s Revenge Of The Dreamers III compilation, working alongside Cozz, EarthGang, Ari Lennox, and more on the cuts “LamboTruck,” “Still Up,” and “Revenge.” While he also joined the Dreamville gang on their massive effort, Vince Staples has otherwise been relatively dormant this year — he did drop off the high quality cuts “So What?,” ”Sheet Music,” and ”Hell Bound” as a part of the creative, short-lived digital series “The Vince Staples Show.”
Press play on the official video for “SAUCE” below. Hopefully, we’ll be hearing more about “New Beginnings” sooner than later.
