As one of Top Dawg Entertainment’s more recent acquisitions, REASON delivered one of the best bodies of work with There You Have It. Following the release of newer cuts in the past few months, the Carson emcee unveils “The Soul Pt. 2,” the sequel to his 2018 cut “The Soul.” Produced by BREGMA, Lonestarrmuzik, and Kal Banx, REASON bares all over the laid-back track in celebration of his 30th birthday:
“In world full of talented talent there’s still beginners, we work to stand out, it panned out, we became them n***as, team of Avengers, ironic, showed up with visionh hard work and persistence, look “Reason” that definition/
I came for it, s*** was in mind, mentally inkin’ my name on it, put the pride to the side, n***as had vision and stayed on it, f*** if the fame on it, this love, n***a, made it out without havin’ to bе a thug n***a…/”
Currently, fans are waiting for REASON’s sophomore LP New Beginnings. Back in March, he hosted a listening party for the album, which saw appearances from Jay Rock , Isaiah Rashad, and more. In the past twelve months, he released the “Flick It Up” with Ab-Soul, “Show Stop,” “Trapped In” with Ab-Soul and Boogie, and “Might Not Make It,” the last of which was released as a part of Top Dawg Entertainment’s fan appreciation week.
Speaking to RESPECT., Reason spoke on why he chooses to be so transparent in his music:
“I just really wanted to be able to connect with the people because I understand life is hard and I’ve gone through it and so I just hope when people listen to my music that it can inspire them to keep going and that they can come out on the other side…for me, it’s a therapeutic way to get my message out and to let people know they aren’t alone.”
