In a virtual interview with James Corden for “The Late Late Show,” Gabrielle Union revealed that a sequel for Bring It On is “absolutely” going to happen.

Corden asked Union if she had spoken to her former co-star Kirsten Dunst and the rest of the cast about the possibility of doing a sequel for the popular film. “We have! We actually did a public panel a couple of weeks ago and they asked about it and we all were like, ‘We’re in. Like, we’re absolutely in,’” she replied. Corden then followed up by asking, “Is that something that you genuinely think is going to happen?”

“It’s absolutely going to happen,” Union said. ”I think it’s because we all got obsessed with ‘Cheer’ on Netflix and it kind of like brought back the whole love of cheerleading, and we kinda want to see where these people would be 20 years later.”

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the release of Bring It On. The film made over $90 million worldwide and went on to become Union’s breakout role.

In an interview with Vogue, the Breaking In actress spoke about what it took to become a cheerleader for the Compton Clovers. “The Toros had four weeks and the Clovers had nine days of cheerleading boot camp to learn all of the routines you see in the film,” she recalled.

“They said the Toros got more time because they had more routines to learn and more actors who had to learn them,” Union continued. “Also there were more professional cheerleaders in the Clovers’ cast along with me and the singing group Blaque. They were young girls who’d gone straight from a very long tour with *NSYNC right into filming, and at that point they were so over each other. They got all of the choreography way faster than I did.”
