DJ Khaled’s visual for his latest summer vibe “POPSTAR” with Drake was released this week and it kicked off with an amalgamation of various Khaled clips hilariously pestering Drizzy to make the music video.
Drake’s reaction to Khaled’s numerous requests was met with annoyance as he took the moment to vent his feelings about it to his best friend and muscle Chubbs, who was sitting nearby.
“This guy is off his rocker,” Drake said in the video while shaking his head before going in on a tangent about people always asking him to do things for them while he attempts to finish his next album, Certified Lover Boy.
He then makes a call to one of the biggest pop stars in the world, Justin Bieber, for “the favor.” The result is JB shooting the video in the OVO boss’ place at Bieber’s lavish mansion where a massive turn up was taking place.
“Drake wants to be an actor so bad,” one fan commented on his solo acting scene. “but I’m kinah with it he can defo act.”
As a “Degrassi: The Next Generation” alumnus, it is true, Drake can act. The Canadian rapper, born Aubrey Graham, played the role of “Jimmy Brooks” in the popular high school television drama series back in 2001 for seven seasons and 100 episodes before churning out mega hits such as “Hotline Bling” and “God’s Plan.”
He even paid tribute to “Degrassi” in his music video for “I’m Upset,” which starred a lot of the original characters.
Other users, seemingly unaware of Drake’s thespian past, also delighted in Drake’s acting skills from the “POPSTAR” music video while others expressed confusion as to how anyone could not know Drake got his start as an actor.
As a result, the Grammy-award winning rapper’s government name was trending on Twitter along with “Degrassi.”
