Barack Obama is back with another playlist of the top songs he’s listened to during the summer and some of your favorite artists are on the list. The former president took to social media Monday (Aug. 17) to reveal which tracks have kept him entertained this season.
“Over the past few months, I’ve spent a lot of time listening to music with my family,” he wrote. “I wanted to share some of my favorites from the summer––including songs from some of the artists performing at this week’s @DemConvention. As always, it’s a mix of genres that travels through various eras. I think there’s something in here for everybody––hope you enjoy it.”
Among the many artists with songs on the list were Beyoncé, Megan Thee Stallion, Drake, H.E.R., Common, John Legend, Outkast, Stevie Wonder, Billie Holiday, D’Angelo, Nina Simone, Lil Baby, Frank Ocean and many more.
The artists who have a blue star next to their name will be performing at the Democratic National Convention, which will take place from Aug. 17-20. Obama’s former Vice President Joe Biden will be named as the Democratic nominee.
Some of the artists featured on Obama’s playlist have reacted to their songs being named. XXL 2020 Freshman Class member Chika retweeted the list and wrote, “Excuse my language, but BITCCHHHH.”
Megan Thee Stallion was ecstatic to see her collaboration single with Beyoncé listed. She wrote “Omg!!!” followed by three fire emojis on Twitter.
Jason Isbell took to Twitter to react after seeing his song “Be Afraid” on the playlist. “The band and I attended both your inaugurations,” he tweeted. “Had some of the best conversations of my life on those days. It’s a great honor to see our song here alongside such great pieces of music.”
