Dave East is back. Not that he’s ever gone anywhere, as the Harlem star has been feeding his fans with loose drops like “My Loc,” “Menace,” and “Handsome” all year. Now, he returns with a new single titled “Believe It Or Not,” which sees him spitting the type of real life bars that makes him one of the best of his generation:
“I know you seen he had some crips with ‘em, Amiri denim with the rips in ‘em, government edition, hollow tips in ‘em/
We back to back in Cadillacs, a bunch of sticks in ‘em, I ain’t never been hard to find, come and get wit’ ‘em, I keep it a hundred ‘cause I hate the lying, I’m somewhere wit’ your b***h, Anita Baker vibin’/
“Breakfast Club,” interviews ‘bout how I made it out it, I really hated house and I’m wit’ whatever, I could relate to violence/
Seen n***as lose they life and I gave no reaction, I was really baggin’ up listenin’ to Toni Braxton, he playin’ tough, this ain’t a movie but I know he actin’/”
The accompanying visual come courtesy of StreetHeat and sees Dave East posted up and cruising through various streets around New York, with exotic vehicles, high-end tequila and a wealth of his fellow homies — all of whom seem to have moved on from Coronavirus protocol. The clip ends with an announcement that the third installment of Dave East’s highly-rated Karma series is on the way.
Previously, Dave East released his official debut album Survival last November, which saw 20 tracks and features from DJ Premier, Nas, Teyana Taylor, Rick Ross, The-Dream, Fabolous, Gunna, Lil Baby, Mozzy, and more. The first and second volumes of the aforementioned Karma releases made landfall in 2017 and 2018, respectively.
