Despite the fact that Kanye West already has a campaign running mate — Wyoming preacher Michelle Tidball, according to his Forbes interview — the Jesus Is King rapper is apparently keeping his options open. Speaking with Charleston’s Z93 Jamz radio host Kris Kaylin, ‘Ye confessed that his dream running mate would be none other than JAY-Z.
“You know who my favorite candidate is for my running mate is? I’ma present it as a riddle to you,” Kanye told Kaylin during a new interview. “When we were trying to figure out my website because everybody kept stealing my website ’cause now I’m in the dirty game of politics, right? So, they stealing every option, right? So, what I did is put the initials of this [state] down and then I put Kanye 2020. Who would that be?”
“South Carolina? Shawn Carter — JAY-Z!” Kaylin guessed correctly, which Kanye confirmed with an exclamatory, “Whoop!”
The interview occurred the same day as Kanye’s first-ever presidential campaign rally in Charleston, South Carolina at the Exquis Event Center. Attendees had to register for the event beforehand and were asked to wear face masks and stand at least six feet apart. During the rally, West answered questions from the audience about his presidential platforms and spoke about issues such as abortion, marijuana, slavery, gun control and racism.
Despite the rally, Kanye will reportedly not appear on the South Carolina ballot. The rapper previously launched an online petition to collect signatures from state voters, but missed the Monday (July 20) 12 p.m. EST deadline, the South Carolina State Election Commission informed TMZ.
However, ‘Ye was recently added to the Oklahoma ballot after paying a $35,000 fee. So far, he’s missed ballot deadlines in Florida, Michigan, New York and other states.
