Kanye West has announced his run for President of the United States.
On Saturday (July 4), the father of four shared his plans for the future on social media. According to ‘Ye, he will be running in this year’s election. “We must now realize the promise of America by trusting God, unifying our vision and building our future. I am running for president of the United States! #2020VISION,” he wrote.
As West’s fans might recall, this isn’t the first time that he has announced a similar plan. After receiving the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2015 VMAs, he expressed a similar sentiment.
“We are gonna teach our kids that they can be something. We’re gonna teach our kids that they can stand up for themselves. We’re gonna teach our kids to believe in themselves. If my grandfather was here right now, he would not let me back down. I don’t know what I’m finna lose after this, it doesn’t matter though, because it ain’t about me. It’s about ideas bro, new ideas,” he said during his speech.
He continued, “People with ideas. People who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”
Aside from his announcement, West most recently signed a 10-year partnership deal with Gap, which will include items at an affordable price point for men, women and children. In an effort to celebrate his latest venture, ‘Ye personalized a message that was printed on a Chicago Gap Store.
“This is the Gap Store I used to shop at when I would drive my Nissan from the Southside. So Blessed,” West’s note read. “I thank God and I am so humbled at the opportunity to serve. I put my heart into the color palette and every detail.”
