A white woman was reportedly arrested in Orion Township, Michigan on Wednesday (July 1) after pulling a gun on a Black teenage girl and her mother in a parking lot. A video of the incident — recorded by the alleged victims — went viral on Twitter.
According to Detroit News, the argument began outside of a Chipotle around 8 p.m., when the white woman allegedly bumped into the teenage girl, named Makayla Green.
“Before I could walk into Chipotle, this woman was coming out, and I had moved out the way so she can walk out,” Green told the outlet. “She bumped me, and I said, ‘Excuse you.’ And then she started cussing me out and saying things like I was invading her personal space.”
The teen then reportedly called over her mother Takelia Hill because she was frightened.
“I walked up on the woman yelling at my daughter,” Hill said. “She couldn’t see me because her back was to me, but she was in my daughter’s face.”
The outlet reports that the argument continued into the shopping plaza parking lot, where Hill asks the woman why she bumped into her daughter. Hill and Green reportedly called the woman “ignorant” and “racist,” which she denied while yelling through her rolled-down car window.
“You cannot just walk around calling white people racist,” she reportedly said from the car’s passenger seat, according to Detroit News.
The viral footage begins after the woman and man who was driving the SUV began to back up the car and allegedly almost hit Hill and Green. Hill told Detroit News that she thought the car was going to hit them, so she hit the back of the car with her hand. Then, the woman got out of the car armed with a gun and pointed it at Hill and Green.
“She got the gun on me and she about to hit me with the car!” Hill can be heard yelling in the clip and telling her daughter to call the police.
“Get the license plate, now!” she yells to her daughter, as the white woman says, “You fu*king jumped behind my car.”
“I didn’t jump behind your car! I was walking. Your husband was hitting me!” Hill replies.
The woman screams “Get the fu*k back” and continues to keep her gun pointed at Hill and Green.
The video ends with the woman and the male driver leaving the parking lot in their car. According to Detroit News, an officer did arrive on the scene and took the gun away from the woman and handcuffed her. However, the individual who posted the video — who claims to be related to Hill and Green — wrote that the woman and man were “let go” because the alleged victims had hit their car.
The investigation is currently under investigation by the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office. According to a statement from Sgt. Dale Brown given to Detroit Free Press on Thursday morning (July 2), the case will go to the city prosecutor’s officer to determine whether or not charges will be filed against the woman.
