This past Friday, August Alsina liberated his third studio LP The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy, which boasts a whopping 27 new tracks from the New Orleans crooner and additional appearances from Lil Wayne, Juicy J, Yo Gotti, Tink, and more. Now, he drops off a dope visual for the album standout “NOLA,” an HeroSavesTheWerld-produced ode to where he comes from and how it’s molded him into a soldier:

“Got n***as askin’ for the old me, but they ain’t know me, we wasn’t homies, four walls couldn’t hold me/

Nann n***a could control me, everything that I ever did, I did it boldly, if I didn’t think you was for me, then that would make you a foe/

And then it’s f*** you like a ho, n***a, anyway you want it, don’t give a damn, we could go, nigga killin’ everything in my way, no play, play, I’ma go and get ‘em/

The accompanying clip starts with older footage of August, with fans asking for various versions of the “old him.” The scene then turns into an apocalyptic world, perhaps a sign of a new life that August is now working to survive. Painted dancers and stripper perform around him as he sings his heart out, aiming a spiked bat at any haters watching.

The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy follows August Alsina’s sophomore LP This Thing Called Life, which was released five years ago. His breakthrough debut, Testimony, made landfall a week prior. Before The Product III’s release, August spoke on his intentions with the album via his Instagram:

“The goal of this project is to expose myself through the art and to help others reveal their true selves. Go back into the past, bring it into the present and positively impact our future.”
