Doja Cat is offering her support amid the racial injustices in today’s society. On Friday (June 5), the “Say So” singer revealed that she made a six-figure donation in support of Breonna Taylor, an unarmed black woman who was fatally shot in her Louisville home.
“Happy birthday to the beautiful Breonna Taylor, who would have been celebrating her 27th birthday today,” she wrote. “ I am donating $100,000 to Justice For Breonna Taylor Fund #BIRTHDAYFORBREONNA and I am inviting you all to honor and celebrate her with me by donating whatever you can and signing her petition – the link is in my bio.”
She continued, “ I’m urging all my friends, family, fans, and colleagues to please donate whatever you can to her cause and to ALL the foundations that are helping us bring justice and demand change! We are all in this together and together is the ONLY way to demand change for a better world.”
Like Doja, many other celebrities hopped on social media to honor Taylor on what would’ve been her 27th birthday. In a heartfelt post shared to Instagram, The Game revealed that he met the award-winning EMT prior to her untimely death in March.
“This is a picture of me & you to remind people of just how big your smile was & though our interaction was brief, I can attest to the amazing energy you exuded & how genuinely happy you were to meet me this night. ‘Jayceon,’ you said to get my attention…. as that always does,” The Game wrote. “I turned around & you asked for a picture & after you said ‘Thank you so much, we have the same last name & tell little Cali I said hi.’ I appreciate you & I am the one thankful for the picture with such a beautiful soul. Your life was taken but your name will never be forgotten…… BREONNA TAYLOR.”
More recently, Kanye West, The Weeknd and Drake all donated a great deal of money in support of the George Floyd protests happening in the country.
