Last month, Styles P delivered his latest album Styles David: Ghost Your Enthusiasm, which saw 15 new tracks from the Yonkers legend and additional appearance from ItsTheReal, Whispers, Snyp Life, fellow LOX members Jadakiss and Sheek Louch, and more. Today, he drops off another visual from the project for the standout track “Truth Be Told,” which sees him speaking on his and his wife’s successes both inside and outside of music over production from Trey On Da Beatz:
“You frontin’ on the ‘gram, I’m frontin’ on your man, he was actin’ sideways, he was frontin’ on the plan/
Now they at the juice bars, backin’ up the vans, gotta shit load of fruit, we ain’t packin’ up the spins/
We packin’ up the stores, thugs you adore, ’cause we keep the hood healthy, give it to ‘em raw/
Wife had the vision and the pharmacy was born, made a couple sales, now the pharmacy is on…/”
The visual shows him walking around the community, stopping by his Juices For Life shop and connecting with various others around the neighborhood. It’s a real moment during a time where many of us are fighting for normalcy while the government and police seemingly do everything they can to keep us under their control.
In related news, Styles recently announced that he’s teamed up with Pharoahe Monch and Marco Polo to create a song titled “Same S***, Different Toilet,” a song from their respective vaults that addresses the current issues that Black American citizens are currently facing today. In addition to releasing a trailer, he explained the collaboration via social media:
“Verified In light of the recent murders of unarmed Black citizens, [Pharoahe Monch] and Myself have decided it’s time to release the trailer for a song we recorded a few years ago entitled “SAME S***, DIFFERENT TOILET” produced by Marco Polo. He was holding this song for a different project but the moment calls for conversations and actions regarding the vicious cycle of violence against Black bodies in the United States of America. It’s a shame its from years ago and sounds like it was made yesterday …”
Before that drops Friday (June 5), fans can press play on “Truth Be Told” below.
