Flo Rida is doing his part to give back to the community during this pandemic. According to TMZ, the “Low” rapper has teamed up with his doctor to launch a mobile COVID-19 testing center for Florida companies that are trying to reopen safely.
He and his doctor have launched a $1.5 million healthcare venture together called the Asktabs Mobile Wellness Center. The goal of the center is to help healthy people get back to work as states begin to reopen businesses.
Their mobile center, staffed by 14 people, has the ability to test up to 1,500 patients per day. Last week, they tested 30 employees for The Metro Wrapz company in Miami.
The Mail on Sunday MC shared photos of the event on Instagram. “Me and my team wanted to do our part in bringing back the city to its feet sooner and most importantly stronger!” he wrote in the caption of the post. “@asktabs truly appreciate you and all you do for the community. So glad we were able to bring COVID-19 testing here. God bless!”
A similar initiative was held by Tina Knowles-Lawson and Beyonce’s BeyGOOD foundation in their hometown of Houston, Texas. Residents were offered free COVID-19 testing from their cars and were also given free masks, gloves, vitamins, household supplies and gift cards for groceries.
“The virus is wreaking havoc on the black community so, we need a movement to prioritize our health,” Knowles-Lawson said. “We are all in this together. But, we have to look at what is happening in our black and brown communities and how they are being decimated by COVID-19.”
She continued, “It is critical that we stay vigilant with social distancing, wearing a mask and most of all, getting tested. If you don’t get tested then you don’t know if you are a carrier of the virus. Being asymptomatic is how you infect your entire household and those around you, the very people you love. We have got to go to these free testing facilities and find out our status.”
