The Verzuz battle between Beenie Man and Bounty Killer was the highlight of Memorial Day weekend.
The epic Instagram Live showdown went down on Saturday (May 23). It was the first Verzuz battle where both contenders went head-to-head against one other in the same room. Both artists performed their hits and turned the normal Verzuz challenge into a live concert.
As the battle took place, people on social media began to let the jokes fly. While a lot of fans joked about the police trying to shut the show down and the artists’ fashion choices, a lot of people made comments about Beenie’s belly.
Now, the “Girls Dem Sugar” musician has taken matters into his own hands by deciding to get himself a personal trainer.
“The bullying can stop now,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “JMJMJMJMJMJM seet deh bright and early #WORKOUTMODE. I don’t want to be that #BigBellyGuy. @krystaltomlinson Happy Holidays Everyone.” See that post below.
“Bwoy, ever since Saturday night the fans dem a give it to him. And Moses is a man who love to please him fans, so we going to see a different Moses now,” his brother and manager Rohan Smith told The Star.
The battle between dancehall legends Beenie Man and Bounty Killer was arguably one of the best — if not the best — IG Live showdown to take place on Swizz Beatz and Timbaland’s Verzuz platform. From the Jamaican pride to the music to the dancing, the event was just what everyone needed while social distancing.
Swizz and Timbo later spoke about the battle’s significance in a separate IG Live. “Tonight represented the authentic zone of why we didn’t sell 50% of the company for millions of dollars,” Swizz said. “The authentic zone of why we turned down millions and millions of dollars to the vultures just wanting put a name next to the name, but no. Respect is overdue.”
