Klay Thompson is speaking candidly about his 2019 ACL injury.
On Saturday (May 2), Thompson announced on Twitter that he is releasing a documentary on his 2019 NBA Finals injury. “Nothing’s stopping me from coming back stronger. Stay tuned for ABOVE THE WAVES presented by @KPThrive, the full story about my physical and mental recovery from my ACL injury. Streaming on May 6th,” he wrote in a statement to Twitter.
“I felt my knee, like, shift,” Thompson said at one point during the documentary’s trailer. “I gave that game my heart, that series, that whole season. But you can either, you know, feel sorry for yourself or you can work even harder.”
In a similar fashion to his former teammate, Kevin Durant also suffered a major injury during the finals. At the time, he injured his right Achilles and received a heartfelt message from Drake shortly after. “Was tough for any of us to even enjoy that game tonight after seeing this transpire,” Drizzy wrote alongside a photo of Durant smiling from ear to ear. “Praying for our brother. That’s my only concern tonight is your well being. ‘The game needs me’ is an understatement when it comes to 35. Please wish the best for this true warrior.”
More recently, Michael Jordan released a docuseries titled “The Last Dance.” Prior to the series’ debut, the former Chicago Bulls player was hesitant to share the project with fans. “When people see this footage I’m not sure they’re going to be able to understand why I was so intense, why I did the things I did, why I acted the way I acted, and why I said the things I said,” Director Jason Hehir recalled Jordan telling him.
