Dave East is currently mourning the loss of a loved one.
On Sunday (April 26), the New York-bred rapper shared on Instagram that he lost his aunt due to Coronavirus. Keeping his caption to a minimum, he wrote, “Rest in Paradise Aunt Dawn F—c Corona.” Following his post, many filled the comments section with words of encouragement. “Sorry for your loss” and “My condolences,” most of the messages from fans read.
Throughout his career, East has spoken candidly about the importance of family in his life. The 31-year-old, who is a father to a four-year-old daughter, opened up about the responsibility he feels to do right by his toddler. “I’m a dad now, and I feel like I’m my daughter’s hero. I’m her protector, I’m the only man she knows. I can’t jeopardize that for nothing. I can’t ever go back to jail; I need to be around for my baby girl to really grow and me give her all the game I got, to where when she’s a grown woman she’ll be cool, she’ll already know what life is about,” he explained back in August 2017.
Unfortunately, East is not the only member of the hip hop community to lose a loved one to Coronavirus. Earlier this month, Offset asked fans to pray for his family after revealing that his uncle died of COVID-19.
In addition to Offset, Scarface recently gave fans an update on his health following his Coronavirus diagnosis. “I fought the COVID, double bilateral pneumonia and kidney failure, all in my house. This my new lifeline,” he said in reference to being placed on dialysis. “I gotta change my entire diet. I gotta do dialysis four times a week, three hours a day. That’s taking all of my blood out, cleaning it, and putting it back in my body. Before the COVID, I never had kidney problems.”
