Offset is the latest celebrity to lose a loved one due to COVID-19.
The “Clout” rapper shared the unfortunate news in an Instagram post to his story. He wrote, “Smfh this corona shit done killed my great uncle. RIP uncle Jerry damn man.”
“Pray for my family,” he added in a second story update, along with a picture of a stitched cross. It’s unclear whether Offset’s great uncle is from his mom or dad’s side of the family.
Just last month, the Migos rapper urged his fans and followers to stay safe and prayed up during the pandemic as he posted a photo of himself with a face mask on. His wife, Cardi B, has been very vocal about the deadly outbreak on social media.
Last week, the “Bodak Yellow” rapper spoke with former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders on Instagram Live. She criticized the Trump administration for not taking care of the American people and for closing our country’s borders too late.
“They put capitalism, money, trading, goods, before our health,” Cardi told Sanders.
“The thing is that people are still dying and catching Coronavirus, and as much as I want to go outside — cause I want to be outside for the summertime, I just don’t feel like it’s safe to go outside,” she said.
The Grammy-award winning rapper also spoke about how people with COVID-19 are spending their final moments in hospitals alone, without family.
“It makes me sad that they cannot have their family around them to nurture them, to hold their hands and say, ‘Everything is going to be alright,’” she said. “It’s really sad that some people like, their last moments — they cannot even spend it with their families.”
The REVOLT team would like to send our thoughts and prayers to Offset and his family. Rest in peace.
