Master P is making sure that the senior citizens in New Orleans are being taken care of during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to TMZ, anyone over the age of 60 in his hometown can sign up for their home to be deep cleaned. They can also receive two types of hand sanitizers. The senior citizens will just have to show their IDs to receive the free services.
“My thing is, a lot of people forget about the elderly and a lot of the elderly are the ones that are getting hit hard,” Master P said in a video to TMZ. “We are losing a lot of the elderly in the community and my thing is, making sure we go out and get them groceries and making sure that we make monetary donations to them.”
He continued, “We’ve been going out as of this week coming, going out to houses and sanitizing their properties because they really need that. We wanna make sure that the elderly’s houses are clean at the same time.”
Master P’s Team Hope Foundation is also giving senior citizens monetary donations, groceries, water, toilet tissue, house cleaning supplies and other necessities during the pandemic. The supplies are on a first-come, first-served basis.
According to Governor John Bel Edwards and the Louisiana Department of Health, black people make up 70% of COVID-19 related deaths in Louisiana, although they only represent 32% of the state’s population.
New Orleans is the hardest hit community in Louisiana and majority of the city’s population is African-American. The city accounts for about one third of Louisiana’s Coronavirus deaths, according to LDH data.
