Kid Cudi is taking a moment to remember Juice WRLD.
In a series of heartfelt posts, the Kids See Ghosts musician reflected on the first time he met the Chicago native. While on Twitter, Cudi responded to an old tweet in which Juice stated that he wanted to work with the 36-year-old in the future. “It hurts we never got to work together. When we met at Coachella I was surprised u were even a fan. I didn’t feel so old after all haha I got something just for u I hope u love. All for you brother. Tell my dad I said hey. Love u man,” he wrote.
Cudi also shared a screenshot of his conversation with Juice in April 2018 in which he encouraged him to stay in contact. “Dude! So awesome finally meeting you. Let’s stay in touch, I’m running around a bit, but hopefully we can get up,” the text message read.
Back in December 2019, Juice passed away from an accidental drug overdose in Chicago. During an interview with NME a few months before his passing, the “Lucid Dreams” artist opened up about his history with Percocets and lean.
“[Drugs] can ruin your whole life. If they don’t kill you, they can leave you in a trance for the rest of your life. Most f***ing rappers rap about getting high and feeling great,” the rapper explained. “But I talk about the good side and the bad side. Just to shed some light on the negative side.”
Like Juice, Cudi has also spoken candidly about the importance of mental health with fans. During an interview on “Red Table Talk,” the Cleveland native detailed his experience with depression. “I was really good at keeping my troubles hidden, even from my friends. I really was good with that. And it’s scary because you hear people say, ‘I had no clue,’” he said at the time.
