Ciara and her husband Russell Wilson are donating a million meals to their local food bank in an effort to support those who have suffered health and financial obstacles during the Coronavirus pandemic.
“This worldwide pandemic, the Coronavirus, is changing the world. Second by second, minute by minute,” Wilson said in a video posted to Instagram on Tuesday (March 17) with Ciara by his side. “People are losing loved ones, the elderly and the young, people in between. You think about people losing jobs, even in Seattle… All these places are being affected, all around the world.”
“What we’ve decided to do is partner up with our local food bank in Seattle, Seattle Food Life Line, and we’re gonna donate a million meals,” the Seattle Seahawks quarterback continued. “Hopefully, make a difference.”
The couple, who recently announced they are expecting their second child, encouraged others to join them in their donation.
“We want to encourage everyone out there to join us in whatever way that you can, big or small,” Ciara added in the clip. “Everything makes a difference. Everything that we do together makes a difference. Together, we will conquer this tough time that we’re going through.”
“We have faith, we want to encourage everyone else out there to keep the faith,” she continued. “Also, practice social distancing, and be blessed. We’re praying for everyone out there.”
Ciara previously postponed a Texas concert, which was scheduled to take place on Thursday (March 19), due to fears surrounding the Coronavirus.
“With the continued spread of the Coronavirus throughout the US, as a pregnant woman, my doctors have advised me to limit travel and large group gatherings,” she said in a statement. “I am disappointed I won’t be able to return this month to the place where I was born, Ft. Hood, Texas, and put on the amazing show we had planned.”
