Roger Mayweather, the uncle of Floyd Mayweather, has sadly passed away at the age of 58, according to TMZ.

Roger was one of the most famous boxing trainers ever and was an important member of Floyd’s training team. He held the WBA and lineal super featherweight titles back in the day. The former world champion retired in 1999.

Roger’s health had been on the decline in recent years. Floyd admitted that his uncle suffered physically from his 18-year professional boxing career.

“My uncle Roger Mayweather has lost a lot of memory from the sport of boxing,” Floyd said. “He’s only in his 50s, but it seems like he’s an old man in his 80s.”

A few years ago, Roger went missing, but was found by law enforcement officials.

This is the second tragedy to hit closely to Floyd and his family recently. Just last week, Josie Harris, his ex-girlfriend and the mother of three of his children, passed away.

According to a report by TMZ, Josie was found unresponsive inside her car near her home in Valencia, CA on Tuesday (Mar. 10) night. Officials were reportedly called to the house and pronounced Josie dead at the scene.

Floyd and Josie dated between 1995 and 2010. The former boxer was convicted on a domestic violence charge in 2010 after she accused him of attacking her at her Las Vegas home. Floyd served two months in prison for the charge. Following his release, he spoke about the incident during a 2015 interview with Katie Couric, where he claimed that Josie used drugs. After the interview aired, she sued Floyd for defamation, seeking $20 million. The lawsuit is ongoing and the trial date was scheduled for Dec. 7.

Josie is survived by her and Floyd’s children, 20-year-old Koraun, 18-year-old Zion Shamaree and 16-year-old Jirah.
