While the US government has encouraged Americans to stay home amidst the Coronavirus pandemic, it appears some artists are making the most out of their quarantine time. DJ iMarkkeyz has released a new single called “Coronavirus,” which remixes a PSA about the pandemic that Cardi B gave on her Instagram last week.
“I ain’t gonna front… I’m a little scared,” Cardi said in her clip. “Coronavirus, Coronavirus, sh*t is getting real!”
In the newly remixed single, Cardi’s yelling of “Coronavirus!” and more can be heard over a catchy beat. Cardi apparently became aware of her remixed feature and is all for the new single — especially since it’s been dominating the iTunes Charts.
“The fact this damn corona virus song is charting on iTunes ….” she wrote on Instagram “Hold on ..let me hit the Dj up and Atlantic so I [can] get my damn coins.”
“Damn I posted the iTunes chart 2 hours ago of this damn Corona song charting on the hip hop charts at 96 now it’s number 11,” she shared in another post. “[No.] 86 on the overall charts ..I’m glad yaaa having fun …..Make sure you lysol your pussy before you POP IT.”
The chart-climbing “Coronavirus” single may be the only new music from Cardi for awhile. The Bronx-bred star recently announced that her next single is currently delayed as a result of the pandemic.
Nevertheless, Cardi is gearing up to release her sophomore album, which will serve as a follow-up to her critically acclaimed Invasion Of Privacy. Although she hasn’t offered an official release date for the project, she has said it’s “getting there.”
“I can never put a date on it because, like, when you feel like you’ve got those songs, that’s when it’s gonna come out,” she previously told Baller Alert. “I cannot put a date on my ears, you know what I’m saying? When I feel like I have it, that’s when [it’ll come out].”
