Roddy Ricch’s album, Excuse Me For Being Antisocial, has been doing numbers on the charts.

The Compton rapper recently explained the meaning behind the title of his debut album. “I felt like I wanted people to know who I was,” he said during an interview with HotNewHipHop. “Just give them a sense of who I was as a person because a lot of people know my music, but they don’t really know my personality. They don’t know how I carry myself, who I am behind…they just hear my stories and sh*t through the music and I kind of just wanted to give them, just a closer look inside my brain.”

He also spoke on his relationship with the late Nipsey Hussle, whom he won a Grammy award off of their collab, “Racks In The Middle,” saying that Nipsey knew who he was prior to them working together because their ties to L.A. He said, “We had a relationship before we had ever done a song. When I went into my little situation with Atlantic, he kind of overseen it. Everything that was going on and gave me little tips on how to move throughout…”

The 21-year-old said “Racks In The Middle” happened within Nipsey’s timing after he heard the track from producer Hit-Boy. He continued, “Nipsey just, he just hopped on all the verses. He took my sh*t off. The way he worked was like, he’s so particular. Everybody was so surprised how fast he did the video and how fast he did the turn-around of the verses because, like, even his verses, they take forever. That’s not even no shade. He was just a real perfectionist when it came to whatever he did.”

Please Excuse Me for Being Antisocia l returned to No. 1 on Billboard 200 for fourth time on Feb. 16. The album was released on Dec. 6, 2019.
