The 2020 Roots Picnic will return this May to Philadelphia’s The Mann at Fairmont Park. Led by The Roots and executive produced by the supergroup’s manager Shawn Gee, Questlove revealed the one-day festival’s headliners on Tuesday (Feb. 11), which will include Meek Mill, DaBaby and Summer Walker.
“Dear Philadelphia. We Love You,” Questlove captioned the festival’s flyer on Instagram. “You’re Welcome.”
Snoh Aalegra, Burna Boy, Thundercat, SiR, Baby Rose, Phony Ppl, DJ Diamond Kuts, Poundside Pop, Bren Joy, Hardwork Movement, Aquil Dawud, D’ussepalooza and more are also set to perform. According to the festival’s announcement, this year’s Roots Picnic will offer a “heavy emphasis on collaboration and creativity.”
The Roots will present their SOUL set, with help from Musiq Soulchild, Brandy and SWV. The group’s Black Thought and J Period will also perform “Live Mixtape,” featuring Griselda and Wu-Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killah and Raekwon. Also slated is an act billed as “Meshell Ndegeocello: Reimagining Prince and This Thing Called Life.”
This year will see the return of live podcast recordings, following the success of Joe Budden’s 2019 viewing of “The Joe Budden Podcast.” Taking the helm this year will be Elliott Wilson’s “CRWN” podcast, Kid Fury and Crissle’s “The Read” podcast and Questlove’s “Questlove Supreme Podcast.”
The news marks the latest appearance for DaBaby, Mill and Walker amidst their busy festival season. Walker and DaBaby are both slated to perform at the 2020 Coachella Music and Artist Festival this April, with DaBaby also performing at this year’s Bonnaroo Music & Artist Festival. This July, Mill and DaBaby are also confirmed for Britain’s Wireless Festival.
The 13th annual Roots Picnic will take place on Saturday (May 30). Tickets will go on sale beginning on Friday (Feb. 14) at 12 p.m. EST and can be purchased through Ticketmaster.
