Trick Daddy was arrested in Miami on Saturday morning (Jan. 11) for cocaine possession and driving under the influence. According to the Miami Herald, a Miami-Dade police officer responded to a call of a driver hitting signs and running red lights while driving a dark colored Range Rover. The officer said when he approached the driver’s side of the vehicle he noticed that the driver “appeared to be asleep behind the wheel.”
The officer reportedly knocked on the window, awakening the rapper. Trick Daddy said that he just left the club in Miami Gardens. The arrest affidavit also reported that he told the officer that he had about five drinks while at the club and he was going to drop someone off before heading home.
The outlet reports that Trick had “slurred speech, bloodshot, watery, glassy eyes.” The police report also said that the officer could smell the alcohol on the rapper’s breath. Trick Daddy agreed to do a field sobriety test, but he did not pass.
He was taken to the Hammocks District Station. There, police discovered cocaine inside of a dollar bill while the rapper placed his personal belongings in a plastic bag.
Trick Daddy was also wanted on a warrant for driving under the influence.
He was booked at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on Saturday morning at 7:30 a.m. The rapper’s bond has been set at $5,000 for his cocaine charge and $1,000 for driving under the influence.
This is not Trick Daddy’s first run-in with the law. He was arrested in 2014 and charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon, possession of cocaine, and driving with a suspended license, according to the Miami Herald.
He was also arrested on assault charges in 2003 for allegedly threatening to kill a man over a basketball game.
