With anticipation for Bad Boys For Life already high, DJ Khaled increased excitement by unveiling the upcoming film’s stacked soundtrack.
“As CEO of [We The Best Music] I’m honored to have the official [Bad Boys For Life] soundtrack,” Khaled announced on Instagram Wednesday (Jan. 8). The music mogul is set to executive produce the soundtrack, which will see contributions from Meek Mill, City Girls, Quavo, Rick Ross, Rich the Kid, Bryson Tiller, Jaden Smith, Lil Jon, Pitbull and more.
The Martin Lawrence and Will Smith-starring film will hit theaters on Jan. 17. Already, Bad Boys For Life is projected to earn between $40 and $45 million during opening weekend. The film centers around famous duo Marcus Burnett and Mike Lowery, who reunite to take down a Romanian mob boss. Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Charles Melton, Paola Núñez, Kate del Castillo and DJ Khaled also join the cast.
Lawrence spoke with GQ about the film’s delayed arrival, seeing as it will air 17 years after the second Bad Boys installment.
“The script wasn’t right. And Will, to his credit, refused to do the movie until the script was right,” he revealed. “It wouldn’t have been a good movie. We didn’t want that. We wanted to do a sequel where people would go, ‘Oh, man, that’s what I’m talking about. It just gets better.’”
Last month, Smith and Lawrence appeared on “Ellen,” where they discussed reconnecting in the film and using stunt doubles.
“Just the respect we have for each other, and the love we have for each other, it’s just perfect,” Lawrence said.
“Literally the first moment onstage, connecting, it was right back,” Smith said.
“The first couple weeks… I did like two, and I was like, ‘Sub!” Smith joked about the film’s stunts. “I probably got four days into shooting and I was like, yeah, we gonna let the young boy do that.”
