Cardi B may be getting a chance to get her citizenship elsewhere.
After Black Twitter joked about the possibility of World War III starting, Cardi took to Twitter to announce that she would be filing for her citizenship in Nigeria. She tweeted, “Naaaaa these memes are fuckin [crying emojis] but shit ain’t no joke ! Specially being from New York .Its sad this man is putting Americans live in danger.Dumbest move Trump did till date …I’m filing for my Nigerian citizenship.”
Abike Dabiri-Erewa, chairman of Nigeria’s diaspora commission, caught wind of Cardi’s tweet and invited her to come back to Nigeria.
“@iamcardib As one in charge of the Diaspora for Ngr, We can’t wait to receive you again. Our doors are open, sister. And you need to talk a walk through the Door of Return in Badagry . It’s an indescribable experience.”
Bashir Ahmad, personal assistant to Nigeria’s president Muhammadu Buhari, also caught wind of Cardi’s tweet and jokingly made reference to Nigeria being a better country than Ghana.
Cardi was recently in Africa to perform at the Livespot X Festival on Saturday (Dec. 7). She also performed in Ghana at the Accra Sports Stadium in the capital city.
On her down time, she visited an orphanage in Lagos, Nigeria and donated supplies to the less fortunate. donated hundreds of diapers, bottled water and feminine products for women at the orphanage. Music executive, Brooklyn Johnny, joined Cardi on the trip. In an Instagram post, he shared to fans that they loaded up as many supplies they could to take to the orphanage. “We spent our only free time in Nigeria shopping for children in need,” he wrote. “We literally bought as much as the vehicles we had in our convoy could carry… Today was a good day.”
In an Instagram post, she shared photos of herself with the women of the orphanage. She captioned the post, “Gotta thank the ladies and the gentlemen that nurtured these kids that need just a little bit of more love and protection and gear them up for a better place, destiny and future. People like YALL MATTER!”
