Hip Hop’s elite touched base with fans and offered a glimpse into how they celebrated their New Year’s Eve last night (Dec. 31).
Drake welcomed 2020 with a huge party, during which he paused to make a tribute to his fans.
“If you came with your boyfriend or girlfriend, whatever it was at the time. The point is, like, you really, like, shaped a lot of moments for us so I wanted to do a tribute to the decade ‘cause we really do appreciate everything that you’ve done,” he told the crowd. “It’s amazing to be here together and I’m so thankful that you decided to come here. I know we all could have been anywhere else but this is a really important moment to bring in this next—I mean we talk about the next ten years but let’s focus on the next year. Happy 2020.”
The Weeknd and Travis Scott teamed up to throw their own bash in a lavish mansion in Beverly Hills, CA. French Montana was also reportedly in attendance.
Elsewhere, Blue Ivy Carter, Beyonce and Megan Thee Stallion rang in the new year together. The super squad got a few pictures together during the night, which have since taken the internet by a storm.
Wrapping up a breakout year, Lizzo offered an inspiring message.
“2009 was the year my daddy died, she wrote on Twitter. “2009 was the year I lived in my car & cried myself to sleep on thanksgiving.”
“2019 is the year my album & song went #1,” the tweet continued. “2019 is the year I told my mama I can buy her a house.”
Along with the message, Lizzo shared side-by-side photos of her 2009 self and as 2019’s TIME Entertainer of the Year.
“Anything can happen in a decade,” she wrote. “Tomorrow is the beginning of ur Anything.”
