Tekashi 6ix9ine recently received his prison sentence, but his lawyer thinks he’ll get a break and won’t serve as much time. According to TMZ, 6ix9ine’s attorney, Lance Lazzaro, thinks that his client could be returning to his family by early August, based on good behavior guidelines that have been established by the Bureau of Prisons.

Earlier this week, 6ix9ine was sentenced to 24 months in prison with five years of supervised release, but was given 13 months time served, which leaves him with 11 more months to complete. Based on his recent sentencing, the rapper is expected to be released from jail around November 2020.

Meanwhile, the Bureau of Prisons allows for 54 days per year to be taken off of a prisoner’s sentence if they display good behavior, TMZ reports. That would mean that with 6ix9ine’s sentence, he would be eligible to have his time cut by 108 days.

During the rapper’s sentencing, Judge Engelmayer told the courtroom, per live tweets from Inner City Press reporter Matthew Russell Lee, “I impose 300 hours of community service when you get out and a fine of $35,000. Mr. Hernandez, the worst part is over. There is a great deal to be admired about you. [You’ve] learned a hard lesson here. I wish you very, very well.”

As previously reported, the judge presiding over 6ix9ine’s case said that the rapper’s cooperation was admirable, but his conduct “was much too violent and selfish to get off with just time served,” according to TMZ.

However, 6ix9ine appears to be remorseful as he has taken responsibility for his actions. “I am not a victim. I put myself into this position from day one,” he said in court. “I allowed them in. That was my decision. I wanted to prove something to the world. I wanted the world to see me as an example, that you are in control of where you go. I used my platform to push the message, If I did it, why can’t you? I gave people hope.”
