Rapper-turned-television producer, 50 Cent is expanding his show business portfolio to include a new animated series. “Trill League,” based on a graphic novel of the same name by Anthony Piper, is expected to tell the story of a team of Black superheroes and combine both anime and hip hop culture.

Hailing from Lionsgate in partnership with the Quibi platform, Variety reports that “Trill League” will be co-created, written and executive produced by Jameel Saleem and Piper and executive produced by 50 and Jermaine Johnson, from 3 Arts Entertainment. 50’s G-Unit Film & Television will also produce alongside Lionsgate TV.

A description of the show reports that “in an era of social injustice and internet trolls, a league of black superheroes, ‘Trill League’ is tasked with saving the world from monsters, super villains and haters of all kinds.” The series’ description also adds the viewers can “get ready for this remixed rendition of your favorite superheroes as the series satirizes modern American society.”

“Tril League” marks the latest addition to developing shows at Quibi, which is set to launch its short-form platform on April 6, 2020.

“I am excited to bring G-Unit Film & Television to an innovative platform like Quibi with my partners at Lionsgate and 3 Arts,” 50 said in a statement. “Anthony Piper and Jameel Saleem have created a world we haven’t seen before in ‘Trill League,’ looking forward to sharing it soon.”

This year has seen major television development deals for the G-Unit boss. 50 previously announced an upcoming Tekashi 6ix9ine docuseries, will co-produce a series centered around the infamous Sex Money Murder gang and Peter “Pistol Pete” Rollack and began casting his upcoming show, “Black Mafia Family,” based on Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Atlanta organized crime. His popular Star series, “Power,” will return next month.
