50 Cent is known to speak his mind, no matter how much backlash he can get because of it. The “In Da Club” rapper took to social media to discuss the recent $25 million settlement that Harvey Weinstein’s accusers were recently granted. He posted a screenshot of The New York Times article which said, “$25 Million. The amount of a tentative settlement agreement reached by Harvey Weinstein and his former studio with dozen of his accusers. Weinstein, accused of offenses ranging from sexual harassment to rape, won’t have to admit wrongdoing or pay anything to his accusers himself.” The Power star captioned the post, “Damn so this shit was a big money grab 🤦♂#lecheminduroi #bransoncognac #starzgettheapp #abcforlife.”
The New York Times reports that Weinstein and the board of his former film studio have reached a tentative agreement with more than 30 of his accusers. Under the terms of the settlement, Weinstein, who has been accused of several forms of sexual misconduct, including rape, would not have to admit to any crimes. He also would not have to pay any of the accusers with his own money. The publication also reports that 18 of Weinstein’s accusers have to split $6.2 million, with none of the women receiving over $500,000. The remaining $18.5 million will be split between accusers who are in a class action suit against Weinstein and future accusers. The settlement also means that all civil suits against Weinstein and The Weinstein Company will be dismissed.
Although this settlement could ease a lot of problems for Weinstein, he is still facing a possible 25 years in prison. A judge recently increased his bail from $1 million to $2 million.
50 is not the only rapper who had something to say about Weinstein’s settlement. Rapper Waka Flocka commented on 50’s post saying, “But Bill in prison,” referencing Bill Cosby’s current legal woes.
