Following Lil Nas X’s appearance on HBO’s The Shop: Uninterrupted, many pointed out that Kevin Hart cut off the 20-year-old when he attempted to share his truth regarding his sexuality.
During an interview on Tuesday (Sept. 10) with DJ Scream and Moran Tha Man in Atlanta, Lil Nas explained that he doesn’t feed into the negativity of internet trolls. Using that as a segway, the “Old Town Road” rapper was asked how he felt about the comedian’s minor interruption. “I’m not mad at Kevin Hart,” he said. “Even a lot of situations like that I don’t try to get into those situations cause like online I’m just here to be funny and laugh.”
Despite some people questioning why Lil Nas chose to reveal his sexuality, the “Panini” rapper reiterated that it he was pushed by the universe. He pointed out that sharing his truth while his career is skyrocketing shows that he isn’t joking around.
“Homosexuality, gay people,” Lil Nas began. “Come on, now. If you really from the hood, you know. For me, the cool dude with the song on the top of everything to say this any other time, I’m doing this for attention in my eyes. But if you’re doing this while you’re at the top, you know it’s for real. It’s showing it doesn’t really matter I guess.”
Speaking on his successful career, Lil Nas released his “Panini” visual last week. Only after a few days, the visual has secured over 40 million views on YouTube. In an effort not to forget his origins, Lil Nas also paid a visit to his old high school, Lithia Springs High School, yesterday. During his time there, the rapper performed his single, “Panini.” While posting to Instagram, Lil Nas reflected on the moment. “Performed at my old high school today lol,” he wrote.
