The hip-hop community continues to weigh in on JAY-Z’s NFL partnership. According to Killer Mike, he believes it’s a positive move.
This week, Mike appeared on “Real Time With Bill Maher” where he shared his view on pressing issues in today’s society. During their conversation, Mike confessed that Jay’s deal with the NFL gives people a seat at the table. Mike reasons that everyone’s voice will have the chance to be heard.
“JAY-Z is one of us that made it out the streets, made it in the rooms, and he did what he could when he should,” Mike stated. “JAY-Z’s play, I believe, not only gives us a seat at the table,” he explained, “It doesn’t destroy what Kap knelt for.”
For Jay’s deal, he will have a helping hand with the Super Bowl halftime show and will serve as the NFL’s entertainment strategist. Although there are mixed reviews regarding the partnership, there are many who support it as well. Cardi B revealed that Jay has a plan up his sleeve and that fans shouldn’t worry.
“I think that he can make a change, you know what I’m saying?” Cardi said. “I feel like he didn’t went on an NFL deal without an agreement. I feel like he went in there like, ‘Alright, if you guys want me to work with y’all, y’all need to bring my people in here. Y’all need to do things my way.’ I feel like he’s gonna change it.”
As for Vic Mensa, the Chicago rapper believes that JAY-Z has the power to recruit Colin Kaepernick who hasn’t been selected by an NFL team in the last three years.
“I would be surprised if Kaepernick doesn’t get a job with Hov being in the NFL,” Mensa said. “We know the NFL is a slave game, so to have a black man in there … especially a black man with a socially conscious responsibility, cause i know that’s how Hov feels, man … I believe that Kap gonna get that job and I believe that Hov’s intentions are in the right place.”
