Cardi B isn’t here for anyone trying to gain attention off her name.
According to a recent report from The Blast, which was published today (Aug. 13), Cardi is demanding that the lawsuit accusing her of causing a blogger to receive gang-threats be thrown out. In the court documents obtained by the media outlet, Cardi says the $1 million lawsuit involving blogger, Latasha K, is nothing more than “a transparent attempt to garner media attention and retaliate against” her. Elsewhere in the court documents, Cardi claims she never defamed the blogger publicly.
A couple months back, Cardi sued bloggers Latasha K and Starmine Ebony Jones when they accused the rapper of having herpes and being a prostitute. In addition to that, Latasha spoke ill about Cardi’s daughter, Kulture. As for Jones, she stated that Cardi did drugs including molly and cocaine. As a result, Cardi sued both of them for defamation. For Latasha’s part, she countersued Cardi for $1 million in damages.
Luckily for Cardi, one of her courtroom battles is apparently working out in her favor. Last week, we reported that Cardi returned to court in hopes of blocking a videotape and private text messages with Offset from being released. Later this month, Cardi will undergo a videotaped deposition. The New York native feared the deposition would become a social media frenzy if released. Thankfully, the judge granted Cardi’s request and will keep the footage sealed.
“The Court concludes that the status of Belcalis Almanzar as a person of public interest, as well as the privacy interest enjoyed by any litigant, strongly counsel in favor of limiting the use of the video version of the deposition,” the statement reads. “Accordingly, it is hereby ORDERED that the video version of the deposition of Belcalis Almanzar shall be used only for purposes of this litigation and shall not be filed or otherwise disseminated to any member of the public without permission of the Court.”
