Yesterday (Aug. 9), Rick Ross released his Port of Miami 2 album. After giving the album a few plays, fans realized that a verse from Pusha-T is missing. While on his press tour run, the “Gold Roses” spitter provided some clarification on the situation at hand.
Last month, Ross stated that he put two longstanding rivals Pusha-T and Lil Wayne on a track together without either of them knowing. He hinted that the record would appear on his latest album. During a recent conversation with Peter Rosenburg, however, Ross clarified that his “Maybach Music VI” track only features Lil Wayne and John Legend. After making a judgment call, Ross decided to keep Pusha’s verse off the record.
“What’s so dope about it is that both verses were cleared from both parties,” Ross begins. “But like I said, it was more about the bigger picture, is this gonna move them two getting together and closer. I’ma take the charge for that. I didn’t feel like it was the time for that. I got the record done. I got Wayne verse first, I got Push verse. I wanted to bring them together either way or at least spark that conversation.”
Keeping up his peacemaker momentum, the Coming 2 America actor has hopes that Drake, Kanye West, Wayne and Pusha will reconcile one day. “Cause it’s gon’ come, and I feel like next year I’m going to be a part of that, when that Drake, Wayne, Kanye West, Pusha record come together,” he revealed.
Despite the minor change on Ross’ “Mayback Music VI” track, fans are still loving the album as a whole. The project features guest appearances from A Boogie wit da Hoodie, Denzel Curry, Drake, Jeezy, Meek Mill, the late Nipsey Hussle and more. More recently, Ross announced that he is embarking on the Port of Miami 2 Tour, which is set to visit cities such as Vancouver, Miami, Dallas, Houston, San Francisco, Los Angeles and more.
