It’s no secret that Chicago natives Chance the Rapper and Kanye West are fond of each other’s work. While speaking with Zane Lowe in an interview posted today (Aug. 2), Chance spoke on the significance of West’s Sunday Service.

“I can’t pinpoint a moment when it was like, Ye, has his — I don’t even know what to call it — his revelation, but he does often like, reference me when he talks about it, and I think that’s important. I think fellowship is the most important thing, period, and if we can’t talk about faith, then it’s like, ‘Why are we talking?’” The Big Day spitter said in regards to West’s Sunday Service.

Back in 2016, Chance appeared on West’s “gospel album,” The Life of Pablo. On the intro track, the Acid Rap artist spoke briefly about his faith.

“Let’s make it so free and the bars so hard/That there ain’t one gosh darn part you can’t tweet/This is my part, nobody else speak/This is my part, nobody else speak/This little light of mine/Glory be to God, yeah,” he spits.

Chano isn’t the only rapper to comment on Mr. West’s faith. Last week, Nicki Minaj explained on her Queen Radio show that the father-of-four appears happier since starting his weekly service.

“Sometimes in the music business, we think that other artists don’t believe in God or aren’t spiritual as we are,” Minaj said. “… I just was with Kanye, and he told me he’s a born again Christian now. Like my first instinct was, ‘I’m so proud of you,’ because I could see there’s a peace that he has now that just surpasses everything.”

Currently, West is in the process of attempting to trademark his Sunday Service. If approved, the Chicago rapper will create dresses, footwear, headwear, jackets, loungewear, scarves, shirts, socks and clothing tops.
