Last Friday (July 26), Rick Ross dropped his latest single “Gold Roses,” which features Drake.
In a recent interview with Complex posted yesterday (July 29), Ross revealed how easy it is working with Champagne Papi. The 43-year-old rapper explained that their bond is natural and they are both fans of each other’s work.
“I just think naturally and honestly we fans of each other,” he said. “I remember the first time a chick ever told me about this artist Drake, I said well play him! When I heard him, I heard his tone, I heard his melodies, he went from rapping to singing. I was like, that’s different.”
While speaking on his recent collaboration, Ross praised the Toronto rapper for his versatility. “When he switch from those melodies to them rhymes, nobody else can do that,” says Ross. “Nobody else can do that.” Elsewhere during his conversation, the “Made Men” rapper hinted at a possibility of a joint project in the future. Ross revealed that he and Drake have a lot of dope records in the vault.
“We do some of the dopest records,” he stated when asked about a joint album. “That bond is genuine. He’s recognized, Grammy-wise, and he deserves that. What I do, I feel the streets deserve that.”
In the past, the two have collaborated on a handful of tracks including “Stay Schemin,” “Lord Knows,” “Money in the Grave,” “Diced Pineapples,” “Aston Martin Music” and more. Ross’ press run is in support of his upcoming album release. Port of Miami 2 is slated to release on Aug. 9. Previously, he dropped “Act a Fool” and “BIG TYME,” which are two tracks featured off his forthcoming LP.
