Yesterday (July 19), President Donald Trump offered his support to A$AP Rocky after it was revealed that Rocky would continue to be detained in a Swedish jail for another week as they conclude the investigation.

Reportedly, Kanye and Kim Kardashian West conversed with Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner, about the alleged unfair treatment Rocky is receiving in Sweden. A State Department member began actively working on getting Rocky released from jail. However, Sweden officials have stated they haven’t discussed the case with anyone from the White House.

According to Page Six, Swedish prosecutors have not been in touch with anyone from the White House. “We have had no communication with the White House,” the Swedish Prosecution Authority said to the outlet in a statement Friday. They also told the outlet that it is impossible for the United States President to have an influence on the legal procedure in Sweden.

U.S. representatives Adriano Espaillat (N.Y.), Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (N.Y.), Rep. Joaquin Castro (TX), and Rep. André Carson (D) released a joint statement stating they have reached out to the Swedish government regarding A$AP Rocky’s case.

“We remain deeply concerned about the detainment of Rakim Mayers, also known as A$AP Rocky, and his two companions David Rispers Jr., and Bladimir Corniel. All three of these gentlemen are not only American citizens; they are young men of color,” the representatives said. The members continued, “We will continue fighting until the Swedish Government terminates this erroneous detainment and all three men return home to their families.”

Reportedly, the White House hasn’t called Swedish officials, but the U.S. state department “called to go through the proper channels.”
