Amongst the many people who look forward to the BET Awards every year, Nicki Minaj is not one of them.
After seeing allegedly low ratings for this year’s BET Awards, Minaj seemed overjoyed regarding the potential downfall of the network’s yearly event.
“When u go out of ur way to b spiteful & hurt artists who have always supported ur show… when you fire great ppl who have put their heart & soul into the show… when you’d rather be a messy reality show than a prestigious award show… when ur still being dragged by that lace,” she wrote on Twitter yesterday (June 27).
According to the numbers that the Queen rapper saw, it stated that the BET Awards only drew in 2 million viewers. However, in a press release sent to Billboard, BET says their show netted a total of 12.7 million viewers across eight Viacom networks.
It’s not surprising that the “Megatron” rapper has this energy towards the network. Back in February, a BET employee tweeted: “Meanwhile, Nicki Minaj is being dragged by her lacefront,” which was in reference to Cardi B winning Best Rap Album at the 2019 Grammy Awards. As a result, Minaj and the Young Money team backed out of this year’s BET Experience.
“Young Money will no longer be apart of the BET Experience or award show,” she wrote on Twitter. “Summer Tour dates dropping soon.”
On a lighter note, Nicki season is here. Last night (June 27), Minaj visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon where she confirmed her upcoming album. “Yes, of course, there’s a new album,” she said. “I’m just not putting out the date yet.”
Elsewhere during their time together, the Pink Friday spitter played “Wheel of Freestyle” and showcased her ability to create rhymes effortlessly. Check out Nicki Minaj’s tweets regarding the BET Awards below.
