While fans can already visit Rihanna Drive in Barbados–the street the superstar singer and beauty entrepreneur grew up on and was renamed in her honor–her hometown is planning on commemorating her in yet another fashion.

As reported, a museum dedicated to RiRi is in the works. In fact, the news has come straight from the source: the prime minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley.

According to Mottley, conversations have already begun between Rihanna’s manager, brother and the Barbados government. During an event taking place in London, Mottley noted how the island’s beloved singer–which the locals reportedly refer to as their “diamond”–deserves to be honored in her hometown with a permanent cultural attraction and tourist destination.

Mottley added that Rihanna going from humble beginnings to becoming “the most successful woman entertainer in the entire globe, in my view deserves to be recognized in her life as a living legend of Barbados as well.”

Rihanna, who was born in the town of Bridgetown, was faced with challenges early on in life, including her father’s alcoholism and drug addiction. As a teenager, Rihanna was singing with two classmates when an American music executive discovered her and helped her develop her career. She moved to the U.S. in 2005, going on to ink a deal with Def Jam and pursue music full time.

Years later, in 2018, Rihanna was appointed an ambassador by the Government of Barbados, working with her home country on matters such as education, tourism and investment for the island.

As reported by Artnet, this week a museum in Singapore unveiled a new exhibition, “Guo Pei: Chinese Art and Couture.” The exhibit includes the yellow embroidered cape Rihanna wore to the Met Gala in 2015. Additionally, in the states, the Museum of Science in Boston includes an activation during which guests can experience a light show set to Rihanna’s music.

At the time of this report, additional details regarding a new museum celebrating Rihanna’s achievements have not been revealed.
