Rihanna is living life to the fullest, even if the fun she’s having is potentially coming at the expense of her fans’ sanity. After dropping her eighth studio album ANTI in 2016, the Barbadian singer shifted her focus to further building her Fenty empire, including releasing her cosmetics collection, debuting her lingerie line and solidifying her historic partnership with LVMH.
Tuesday night (June 18), Rihanna touched down in New York City to make an appearance at a Fenty pop-up being hosted at The Webster in Soho. During the event, one t-shirt design in particular caught the attention of fans.
The t-shirt in question, which is reportedly priced at $230, reads “No More Music” on the back. Naturally, such a message sent members of The Navy into a spiral, especially considering anticipation for Rihanna’s new album has been at an all-time high.
Just over a week ago (June 10), Rihanna opened up about her relationship and yearning for motherhood. During the interview, she touched on her busy schedule and her unwillingness to compromise her artistic integrity, two reasons that are understandably to blame for the delay of her new music.
While Rihanna has confirmed on several occasions that she does actually have new music in the works, alluding to a reggae-influenced project, it remains to be seen when her ninth studio album will be released. She has turned the subject into a joke several times throughout the years, acknowledging that she understands her fans’ frustration and making light of the situation by posting memes. Due to her fans’ suggestion for a working title, Rihanna likely will name the project R9.
Hopefully the t-shirts alluding to Rihanna’s retirement from music are just her trolling but given that she’s put in the work to become the richest female musician alive, she certainly deserves the right to take her time.
