This year’s festival season has excitedly seen inaugural music events spearheaded by celebrities such as Pharrell and J. Cole. Lil Wayne, however, is gearing up to celebrate his fifth year putting on for the local community in his native New Orleans with the return of Lil WeezyAna Fest.
As announced on Tuesday (May 28), this year’s daylong fest is set to take place at a new location and will be held on Sept. 7 at the UNO Lakefront Arena. In addition to confirming the event’s new home, Weezy also shared the lineup for this year’s festivities.
Along with a headlining set from Lil Wayne himself, artists such as Travis Scott, Meek Mill, Megan Thee Stallion, Saweetie, Kash Doll, Trey Songz and others will hit the festival stage. According to a press release that also hinted at surprise guests, the decision to switch locations was made to accommodate twice the amount of attendees as past events.
“Lil Wayne is ubiquitous with New Orleans and Lil WeezyAna Fest is an incredible representation of the city’s vibrant and thriving music culture,” Brandon Pankey, Vice President of Business Development & Operations at Live Nation Urban, shared in a press release. “In its 5th year, the festival has become a New Orleans tradition and Live Nation Urban is beyond ecstatic to bear witness to such an impactful event.”
In addition to recruiting some of the most in-demand performers in the game–the full lineup will be released on Friday (May 31) in tandem with tickets being available for sale–event organizers also confirmed that $0.50 of every ticket sold will be donated to support educational initiatives for young people in New Orleans.
Recently, Lil Wayne appeared on DJ Khaled’s latest album, Father of Asahd, as well as announced that he will be hitting the road this summer with Blink-182. He is also rumored to have a new album in the works as well.
