Bun B and his wife are safe after having to fend off an armed intruder Tuesday evening (April 23).
According to police, the veteran rapper‘s wife, Queenie, came to the door after the doorbell rang, anticipating it to be a delivery person. However, upon answering the door, she was met with an armed, masked suspect who reportedly demanded valuables.
Queenie then offered up her car and directed the suspect, who police later identified as DeMonte Jackson, to the couple’s garage. During the commotion, Bun B got wind of the situation and grabbed his gun.
The UGK co-founder reportedly confronted the suspected home invader in the garage as he was getting into the Audi and fired several shots. After returning fire, Jackson fled on foot and later went to an area hospital to have a gunshot wound treated. He left his gun behind at the scene.
Upon his arrival at the hospital, he was arrested and is now facing three felony charges. Jackson, who was shot in his left shoulder, was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon and one count of burglary.
Neither Bun B, nor his wife, were injured in the altercation.
In related news, Bun B recently gave Lil Nas X his official co-sign. After the rapper heard the 20-year-old’s viral “Old Town Road,” he suggested hopping on a rap remix of the country-leaning track. While nothing has yet to materialize of the Trill OG rapper’s suggestion, Lil Nas has experienced continued success, recently breaking the one-week streaming record previously held by Drake.
As far as his own music is concerned, Bun B recently dropped a new collaborative project, TrillStatik, alongside Statik Selektah sometime this year. The joint record was created during a live-streamed 12-hour session and released as a TIDAL exclusive on April 20.
TrillStatik spans 10 tracks and features guest appearances from Method Man, Grafh, Fat Joe, Smoke DZA, Talib Kweli, Big K.R.I.T and more.
