If you’ve been thinking about purchasing a brand new cable package from Philo — the TV company that’s backed by the four major cable programmers Viacom, AMC Networks, Discovery and A+E Networks — we have some exciting news for you.
According to multiple outlets such as Variety and CNET, the company is discontinuing its $16 per month deal for new customers. The package offered over 40 channels. They include A&E, AMC, Animal Planet, AXS TV, BBC America, BBC World News, BET, Cheddar, Cheddar Big News, CleoTV, CMT, Comedy Central, Discovery Channel, DIY, Food Network, FYI, GSN, Hallmark, Hallmark Drama, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, HGTV, History, IFC, Investigation Discovery, Lifetime, Lifetime Movie Network, Motor Trend, MTV, MTV Classic, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Nick Jr., OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network, Paramount Network, PeopleTV, Science, Sundance TV, Tastemade, Teen Nick, TLC, Travel, TV Land, VH1, Viceland, and weTV.
Customers who already have this service will be allowed to keep the package, Philo confirms.
Instead of continuing such a cheap deal, Philo is launching a new $20 per month package. This new deal will be available for new customers starting next month. It will include the previously mentioned cable channels as well as the following:
REVOLT TV, American Heroes Channel, Aspire, BET Her, Cooking Channel, Destination America, Discovery Family, Discovery Life, Law & Crime, Logo, MTV Live, Nick Toons, UPTV.
Since Philo launched 18 months ago, many of its competitors raised their prices exponentially for new packages that they began offering. However, Philo CEO Andrew McCollum has always been against that move.
In a statement published on Variety, he states: “We didn’t want to do that.” Instead, “when we looked at all of the costs of operating Philo — which increase over time — consolidating into a single $20 package was the best way for us to maintain the same offering we have today without raising prices for everyone, or having to cut back in places we strive to excel, like our customer support.”
So, get excited new Philo customers! REVOLT TV is coming to your TV screen very soon – and at a super affordable price.
